You may be wondering why you would want to use a trial version of a photo-editing program like Photoshop over a complete version of a photo-editing program like GIMP. The answer is simple. Because it is a raster image editing program, Photoshop is well-suited for editing all types of images. You can either save your edits as a new file or continue working on the edited image in place. You can read about this option in Chapter 16.
Because you can make changes to an image using layers and after you save your image, you can easily undo your changes, and you can make new changes in the same layers over your previous work, much of your work can be done using only one image. If you turn off your image, all the edits you made are removed, and you must start over. Also, because you can import images in other programs and plug them into Photoshop, you can make changes in the same layers as your original image without any problems.
While the features in Photoshop are not meant to be used by home users, many of the basics are easy to master. Also, certain features and buttons may look different from other programs, so you may need to get used to how Photoshop does things. It may take a bit of practice to figure out which options are which on the menus.
Step 1: Open Photoshop CS2 for the First Time
If you have never used Photoshop before, you will want to create a new document. To create a new image, choose File⇒New. In the New dialog box, shown in Figure 3-4, name the document and give it a location on your hard drive where you can save it. In this example, I will name the new document My First Image. Click OK.
The New dialog box also comes with a default template. You can use this template by using the ribbon along the top of the screen, or you can create a new document from scratch with the default template as your starting point. For this example,

I have a listview with items in it, each item contains a checkbox. I need to be able to get the index of the last clicked item. I have tried many methods but get different results depending on the algorithm I use.

What’s the deal with Wikipedia? Why are all these definitions and clarifications
so complicated and overly detailed? “Quaternion” should have a much more
straightforward and simple definition. It should clearly indicate what
properties it has. Is it a mathematical object? A function? A type? Why not
just spell it out like “A 4-D representation of rotation in 3-D space” and be
done with it?
I’d be really appreciative for getting rid of the annoying click-through from
the “More” section. Sometimes I accidentally click on that and it takes me to
some other page than the one I was actually trying to open.

i would agree. i hate that wikipedia has this mentality that nobody should
read this wikipedia article but they should just google the concept.
there’s a whole world out there to know. wikipedia is great for getting a
broad, yet deep understanding, but too often i feel like i am reading a
disorganized blog. i know wikipedia has a lot of pressure to maintain a good
quality website, but this really frustrates me.

Wikimedia editors to change a definition aren’t doing it because they have
‘good’ reasons, they are doing it because they have bad reasons.
