I would like to learn to read piano music and play along with a simple piece. I currently own a keyboard with piano, but I am using it so rarely that I cannot use it to learn.

A little bit off-topic, but I would like to point you in the direction of a free piece of software that will make your piano playing life a bit easier, at least initially. Namely, the JMAK keyboard controller/software provides a suite of Piano Practice Tools including an instrument simulator and a variety of musical scales.
Please note that the best learning comes from practice. So getting a piece of music and sitting down and playing it over and over again, and really trying to understand it, is the best way to learn. You don’t have to spend a lot of money, and you don’t need to buy a piano (but the piano will make the learning process more effective).
